The schools and community side of City of Lights is managed by Kernow Education Arts Partnership www.keap.org.uk. In 2016 over 900 children and members of the community from around Truro took part in the procession!
Each school or group works with one of the City of Lights artists to make small lanterns on the year's theme and is then part of the massive procession through Truro. It is a real tradition with the Truro schools and children can't wait til it's their turn!
Schools and groups involved in the 2018 parade are:
Archbishop Benson, Bosvigo, Polwhele House, St Mary's C of E Truro, Tregolls School, Truro High Prep School, Truro Learning Academy, Mount Hawke Academy, Goonhavern, Cury C of E School, Cusgarne Primary, Kea Primary, Devoran Primary, Threemilestone Primary, Penair School, Richard Lander School, Truro School & Prep, Truro College, Cornwall College, Cornwall Hospital Education Service.
Community Lantern Workshops - be part of Truro’s City of Lights procession!
Come and make a hand held lantern with one of our City of Lights artists, and take part in Truro's beautiful winter lantern festival.
The workshop will be held on 10 November and be led by one of our City of Lights artists, and lanterns will be inspired by this year's theme 'Remember' Workshops are kindly hosted by Royal Cornwall Museum. You will make small, handheld withy (willow) and paper lanterns to carry in the parade. This is a perfect opportunity to taste some of the magic of City of Lights!
Spaces are limited, and tickets must be booked in advance. This is not a drop in workshop - you will need to arrive in good time to begin the workshop at 10.30am.
If taking part in this workshop, it should be your intention to also take part in the parade itself on Wed. 21st November if possible. We really want a Truro community presence in the parade!
You can bring your own lunch and/or snacks, purchase in the Royal Cornwall Museum Café or pop into town for a lunch break
